Wheelchair Cricket at Banglaore with Firefox

Inclusive Wheel Chair Cricket Match, during which the able bodied participants and Wheelchair Cricket Team from Pan India played two matches

The event consisted of an Inclusive Wheel Chair Cricket Match, during which the able bodied participants and Wheelchair Cricket Team from Pan India played two matches.
Wheelchair Cricket is a version of the sport of Cricket adapted for people who have locomotor disabilities and it is played in a Wheelchair. There is a referee ensuring that everyone is following the rules. All other rules of the game are the same as regular cricket.

The inclusive wheelchair cricket game was scheduled on a sunny Saturday morning from 8 AM to 11 AM. All the Wheelchair Cricketers arrived on the field by 07:30 AM. Participants were given bananas before the start of the event. Divyanshu Ganatra - founder of ABBF introduced the Wheelchair Cricket Team and conducted a brief orientation and introductory session, along with the team from the Maharashtra Wheelchair Cricket Association and other Wheelchair Cricketers from Pan India in which 5 players represent India at International Wheelchair Cricket Matches.


One of the team players explained the rules of the game and two teams were formed. Two games were played. The first one was an exhibition game by the Wheelchair players, and during the second game, the Cyclists and Wheelchair Cricketers played against each other. The crowd was excited and cheering for the teams that were playing. As the game started, the breakfast was served. The volunteers interacted with the wheelchair Cricketers over breakfast. This was followed by a discussion about disability, accessibility and the reflections on the day. The Wheelchair Cricket team was awarded with certificates at the end of the event and had an opportunity to share about the sport and their achievements so far. The Cyclists were very enthusiastic and also shared how their perceptions of Wheelchair users changed by trying out the sport.
