ABBF, in association with Tata Autocomp, organized a three-day paragliding and camping activity for persons with disabilities. From November 12th to 14th, a total of 60 PwDs soared high in the sky at Kamshet, near Lonavala, and later camped near the Pawna Lake.
Each day, 20 participants fastened their harnesses and flew up to 1,200 feet, tandem with expert pilots. Many arrived with understandable concerns, as paragliding looks intimidating from afar, and for people with disabilities, societal stigma can make such adventures feel even more daunting. But at ABBF, all we do is break barriers, and so did we! All the participants had the time of their lives in the sky, which gave them the confidence, outweighing any doubts from the past.
“Aaj mai upar, aasmaan neeche, aaj mai aage, zamana hai peeche” is something that every participant’s heart sang after the landing, which summarizes the whole event in one lyric.
Each day after flying, we wound up camping by Pawna Lake, where we shared our stories around a warm bonfire on chilly evenings, building friendships that will last far beyond this adventure.
