Adventures Beyond Barriers Foundation, in association with Firefox Bikes and Volunteer4India, organized a paramotoring event in Gurgaon, as part of our #EverydayAbility series. During the event, able bodied participants and Persons with Disability (PwDs) could glide with the help of a parachute and a motor that helped it glide in the air. The glider has a pilot who sits at the back or front to navigate and control the speed along with the participant. Besides paramotoring, we also had a ‘Play for Peace’ session, where the instructors introduced a few inclusive and co-operative games. This helped establish a rapport between able bodied people and Persons with Disability going, helping build a sense of community and inclusion amongst the group.
One of the advantages of this activity is that the participants need not glide off a cliff and can take off and land on a flat-land. The glider has a pilot who sits at the back or front to navigate and control the speed along with the participant. For safety the pilots as well as the participant have to wear a helmet and protective gear along with the seat belt. Aside from Paramotoring, we also had a ‘Play for Peace’ session where the instructors introduced a few inclusive and co-operative games. This helped establish a rapport and also got the informal conversation between able bodied and PWDs going which helped build a sense of community and inclusion amongst the group.
